Hello All

Hello All

I recently bought a 1992 F150 from the original owner, it is a good truck but I found out that he never took it in for Factory recall I called a couple of the ford dealerships and was told that it was too old. So I have to do them myself. Has anyone ever changed out the fuel switch for Duel tanks? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Why do you want to change out the switch? There is no recall on the switch for any year that I know of. It is a Double-throw, Double-Poll Switch, what problems are you having with it?

PS, A 1992 does not have the mechanical fuel switch that was used from 1986-1990.

If you have the fuel crossover problem then you need to install check valves in your fuel system.

I'm not sure if safety recalls expire, check another dealer and this time ask if they could see if its been done to your truck. Have the vin# ready.

Welcome to Ford-Trucks!

fuel problem

Thanks to all who replied.

I was told from a dealer here in Houston that it would cost 900.00 to the problem with the fuel tanks, So i told him thanks and hung up. I'm also having a problem with the parking brake. It will not engage.

The Truck is a 1992 F150 with a 105,000 miles
has been retrofitted to except R134
power windows with aod transmission that seems to shift hard(but I'm not familar with this trans)

The problem is that if both tanks are full, and I'm using the rear tank the front tank overflows and spills out on the ground. I asked if it was a recall item and was told no and it would cost about 900.00 to fix.

Yes the recall you are talking about expired in 2004, I think it just consist of two check valves in the fuel lines. I think you can get the parts and fix it a lot cheaper than that.

Here is the recall you were talking about.
