I have an 87 F250 4x4 460 with the Dana 50 TTB front end. I just rebuilt the motor and while it was out, the truck looked so much better sitting level. I'm thinging about putting in a leveling kit. But, I'm a little curious as to how they work. Do they relocate the TTB pivot points on the cross member and replace the springs or is it just springs. I would think that just changing the springs would screw up the suspension geometry. The result would be difficulty aligning the front end and/or wearing out bushings at an accelerated rate. Also, my truck is the 8600GVW and I need it. I can not sacrifice load capacity. And, I love the way the truck handles right now (for a truck anyway), I don't want to sacrifice handling either. Anyone who has experience with these kits, please let me know what you think of them.
i have a 96 250 crew cab 4x4 460 same front axle. i put a 4 inch lift on wich included new springs and the pivot brackets. to level the truck a add a leaf will work. u will be able to use the same shocks. new center pins and u bolts are recommended. u will have to have the truck aligned. it will have to have adjustable sleeves placed around the balljoints to make sure the truck is aligned right. i was told no further mods where needed. the most expensive part would be the alignment, most parts stores have u bolts andenter pins. add a leafs are around 50 bucks. the truck may ride a little harder but most likely you will not notice it due to the weight of the 460. your load cap. will increase in the front but that does not effect the rear where the load would be. for the amount of money and the time to due it i think it would be worth it if thats what you want to do. good luck hope i could help.
