Unhappy Check engine light

OK, I got most of the diesel fuel off of the top of the engine, and got my truck to start by wiggling the plug on the hi pressure sensor, but the check engine light is staying on. If i disconnect the hi pressure sensor on the rail, the truck will still start, with the light on. Normal? The other day, when the check engine light was off, it would not run at all.... Help!! I don't dare to drive it very far. Is it possible that the diesel fuel damaged the sensor? A lot of the fuel was spraying on the sensor, but a lot more sprayed over towards the drivers side rear of the hood, and was dripping out of the hood pad. I am slowly taking all connections apart, and spraying them with electronics cleaner. Thanks for any help!

That stupid light could mean anything. My dad had one come on his Explorer, why? The gas cap was loose. At my shop, we call that light the "Check Money Light".

Just thought you could use a laugh.
