i had my connection slip apart where the rubber sleeve slips over the 6637 filter and sucked air for about 50 miles. It was about -20 and the rubber shrunk and it slipped off. I glued the damb thing back on and still check it every time i drive.
The leading edges of the turbo blades are smooth and straight but the edges close to the housing are slightly rough. I am concerned about the boost numbers because during the summer it was 18 or 19 WOT and now its only 15 with less power after 70mph. I am running winter fuel now with the hubs locked in and still have 15-40 oil but the engine temp is still mid range.
Is the boost numbers and lack of power a sign of bad things?
How much dusting can the fan take before its bad?
Anything else to look for?
you can just save them to your computer and upload them to your gallery.
OR, use an on-line hosting service, and just direct-link to them. all the pics you see that i have posted, are hosted online. i use www.photobucket.com , with over 400 pictures. that way you can put your picture anywhere you want.
I thought that might be a problem myself so I ran about four sheetmetal screws through the hose and in to the air filter with RTV as a sealent I still put the hose clamp on . So far so good .Dave
Good idea pwrstrk, that would make me feel better. The lip wasnt real wide on the 6637 for overlap but I didnt have a problem until it was cold enough to shrink rubber.
I think you will be ok ... when the turbo blades are wiped, you can see it ... they look like they had a fight with a gator. check the clamps on the induction boots - turbo to intake, you might be having a leak there or even on the boost guage lines. 50 miles wont hurt unless you were in th ghobi desert.
doesnt look bad to me. i have seen much worse. i am sure kwik or wyoming will post the pics they have. take a pic of your intake. i have mine setup like this with 0 porblems
Thanks 97F350, I used a rubber coupler that goes over the outside lip of the filter and it looks like yours slips inside it. Im just glad the roads were cold and dry at the time.
I put a pic up in my gallery of the engine compartment.
Lukecline, thats what i was thinking but this is the first winter with gauges on it. You just get a little jumpy when you see your air cleaner hanging loose. This is a low time engine and i dont want stupid things to happen to it.
