i have a 01 f 350 4x4 4 door dually just bought it 2 weeks ago. i just started to notice a clunking noise in the front end only when braking. called ford and they were no help, just wondering if anyone else has herd a noise like this or where would be the best place to look. all nut, bolts, and bushings look good. also i can feel the thump in the floorboard. the only thin i can see is the back side of the front wheels there is a round hard rubber ring ( seal part maybe). any help would be greatly apprecited. yup, it is most likely the sway-bar link bushings. the bushings that are at the axle/swaybar location. symptoms are clunking/popping noise when cornering, braking, going over uneven surfaces at speed (such as pulling into a driveway or hitting a pothole.) the best replacement is Enerysuspension. they do not have online retailers, but rather local autoparts stores that carry ES parts. the part number is 4-5186, and we have two trucks that have this sickness that i am going to remedy soon.
