While out plowing this morning the truck would seem like it was dying when I lifted the plow or turned it left to right. The radio would turn off/on and ABS light would come on and the gauges would reset like you just turned it on.
I noticed the headlights get a little brighter when I would accelerate, this I noticed the other night without the plow attached.
This sound like a battery problem or the Alt. going bad? Any thoughts. Batteries are the original 2002 batteries.
As anyone upgraded their alternator to something else because of plowing?
put a volt meter accross the terminals of one of the batteries with truck running. After truck has been running for a few minutes, should read around
14 VDC, if its 12 or lower most likely a alternator, check for tight/clean battery connections, I had a bad connection on one battery and it died, also the alternator died at 120K miles. Did your truck have the snowplow prep package ?? I think they either put in 2 or 1 beefy alternator..
