Sounds like he's just trying to get a rise out you, either that or he's nuts. A 3/4 ton truck out haul and tow a modified 1 ton. Even if he didn't blow a fuel injector I don't think he could with his durasuck. Sounds like he's suffering from truck envy.

Most likley Batgeek. The 7.3 is a much better engine than the Duramax. 3/4 tonVS 1 Ton no chance. Tell this guy if he wants to play with the Big Boys then he needs to get a real big boy truck. Untill then just let him run his mouth and when you hook on to 18-19,000lbs of trailer withyour truck and he says wow mine can do that then let him try with that great trani of his. Not a chance

Stock Duramax, you'd win. Chipped, he'd have more power, so empty he'd prob have you...but towing, it's a toss up. Tell him to suck on his moms teet some more.

But does his truck cook breakfast?

He's just letting the testosterone flow. We all do it! Have some fun with him, tell him you heard Duramaxes are being recalled because the heads are splitting in half when they tow a heavy load. That'll get his blood pressure up. Just sit back and watch him get all bent out of shape about that one.

Anyway, if he really gets serious, chain your rear tow receivers together about four feet apart and have at it.

BTW, congrats on doing the build yourself. You'll value your truck more than he ever will, Ford or Chevy.

At 16 its difficult to have enough driving experience to tow large loads safely. It takes a lot of experience to become a good driver let along tow heavy. Insurance rates reflect this. Cant really even get commercial insurance til 23. When I see someone pulling a tractor I rest easy when I see they have some grey hairs on their head. Patience and wisdom make a good driver.

When I saw your name I thought it said I6 diesel. Figured this thread was just to talk bad about v8s. As it is the duramax is ahead of the PSD in the hp wars. The truck and engine are best suited to races without a load. The duramax is a short stroke and the chevy is a lighter truck. The short stroke lends to better transient response time. All things being equal the duramax will be faster down the quarter, supposing equal hp, without a load.

Actually, both the PSD and Duramax are oversquare motors. GM just does a better job of making HP and torque.

7.3 psd has a 4.11 bore and 4.18 stroke. Duramax has a 4.06 bore and 3.9 stroke. So the duramax is oversquare and the psd undersquare. I was under the impression long stroke was benificial in a diesel. The pickuptruck dot com test supports this. The duramax did reasonably well against the more powerful powerstroke until a load was added.
The 6.0 has a 3.74 bore and 4.13 stroke. Much more pronounced difference in bore and stroke.
