Clutch size difference?

I have a 1988 F-150 4x4 with a 4.9 motor and a 5 speed transmission. I have found out that there are 2 different clutch sizes, a 10" or a 11". I want to order a clutch kit for it but I can not tell what clutch size to get. I have heard that either size will bolt up, but how can I tell what size I have without taking it apart? If I do order one and it is the different size can I just bolt the new size in without causing problems? I called the local dealership and they just played dumb. Can anyone help me.

If the 4th digit of your VIN is A through H inclusive, it's a 10" clutch. If the 4th digit is I through Z inclusive, it's an 11".

Thanks for the quick reply. It looks like I will be ordering a 10" kit because my 4th digit is "E".
