I am changing the front leaves on my 88 F-250 TTB. I have new springs with bushings already pressed in and new bolts.
My problem is that I can't get the rear spring bolt out. It is seized into the bushing. When you put a wrench on it, you can only turn it as far as the bushing will flex. Ant suggestions. I tried the BFH to drive it out, but no go.
i thought about this some more, the bolt that attaches the shackle to the frame , it does not matter if it rotates because if you cut off both ends you can remove it with shackle which is probably rusty and needs to be replaced anyway. on bolt at spring bushing i spray a lot of wd40 or whatever you have and let it penetrate, then you need to try to get it to turn if you can, if not you need to cut both ends off and use an old bolt or chisel to knock it thru. works for me and you do not burn up the bushing.
the replacement bolts that ford sells are the best for replacement but now are longer with a allen wrench end that sometimes gets in the way. i had to grind 2 of the four new bolts down.
good luck, this is a pain when it is summer so it will be a real pain in the winter.
