Who is the cheapest when it comes to ordering parts not availible from autozone, napa, etc. Local Ford dealers are out of the question; I'm curious to know which companies offer the most competive pricing overall? Specifically I need a main parking brake cable. Quotes from online salvage yards are more that buying it new from Macs Auto Parts, etc.
I need the front one from the pedal to the bracket; its frozen. Also, the passenger rear cable is missing. The drivers side i freed up with a little WD40. 1971 F100 reg. cab. long bed. i think its a camper special.
Yes i have the LMC book, so from your experience they are the most reasonable? next to national parts depot and macs? btw... thanks a heap for taking time to look the parts up!
Sometimes they have the best price and sometimes not. I just have to price shop every item I need every time. How did they compare to the places you called?
http://www.genuine-ford-parts.com/ only goes back as far as 1980. Will they still have older parts simply by entering the correct part number even if it is prior to 1980? Is there a good source for OEM part number which would include a diagram maybe?
Yes, if you have the part # and they carry it, they'll show it to you. I've bought parts for my 72 but you have to put in the part #. I usually get the part # from dennis-carpenter.com and plug it in there. It'll save you half. Here you go:
Why didnt i think of that, i guess that is they your a "Posting Guru". Thanks a bunch !!!
Charles: I've found NPD and Macs are pretty close to LMC on this particular part. I'm curious to see if Ford is close or better. dennis-carpenter.com is consistently higher.
Nope, "posting guru" means I'm wise as to how to post. 1000 posts gets you the "guru" tag and half of mine are things like "which way is up", etc. I'm just tight with my cash so I always try to figure how to save a buck.
There's something fishy about the genuine-ford-parts.com website also. The initial web page is a pretty ford one and when you click the parts link you get the parts locator page. I've ended up on that parts locator page from various parts suppliers main web pages. You just get a different title in the upper left corner.
Well good luck Eknope, Let me know who is the lowest when you finish this search. I have never purchased any thing from genuine-ford-parts but I can start if they are lowest most of the time and welcome to FTE
