Garage Mats
Hey all!! I just wanted to share a cool garage tip. I spend quite a few hours in my garage polishing parts, grinding, etc. I've looked into buying those nice garage floor mats, but I didn't see the point in spending that much money on a piece of rubber. We help a friend of ours with his sprint car team quite often. What he does, and I do now, is cut the sidewalls off the sprint tires and lay them out for padding. They are made of a soft rubber, VERY flexible, and can be trimmed with a razor knife. If you ever go to the dirt tracks go to the infield, 90% of the teams leave their old tires for the trash man.

In a machine shop we used wooden platforms made of cheap 1x stock like slats from used pallets that was easy to sweep off then flip up and sweep out under them. They were easy on the feet and legs also. They could be moved from one location to another easily.
