I have a 10 year old Innova digital timing light. The inductive coil that clips over a spark plug wire has quit picking up the signal, so now I cannot read RPMs or timing. I took apart the inductive coil, everything seems hooked up properly. Best I can figure, the magnets in the inductive coil have lost (most of) their magnetism. Would that be sufficient for it to stop picking up the spark plug's firing?
ANyone ever dealt with this? Would love to be able to repair it, vice buying another. The company phone ##'s in my manual don't work anymore.
Those aren't magnets, it's ferrite core material. There should be a coil of wire around this ferrite core, have you checked for continuity through this coil?
