I have a chance to get a school bus with a alli 3 speed and a 8.3 Cummins ISC. It is in a 85 72 passanger ford bus. It runs GREAT. I have seen the maint records and know the guy selling it. It is a defect in the cab structer so it can NOT be used at the school any more. I want it for parts.
What is the HP/ Torque
Rear axle is EE what is thaT?
I'm not thinking about gutting it right away. It would maKE an awsome party rig.
PS selling is $500 US
I'll have to put twin turbo's and an intercooler, and some propane just to race some Twinky trucks
I think I can get the ISC in my 78 with some springs and box in the frame to mid cab. I think I hanve the reserve axle capacity I have 1740LBs Front axle with a 400LB I6 so surely the 8.3 isn't over 2K lbs

1300 is max torque!? that is just off idle! you could run a 1.75:1 gear ratio with that sucker
No, you misread it. thats 660lb ft of torque @ 1300 rpm. not exactly what I'd call a perfect motor, but in anything like an Fseries, that'll make for a GREAT pullin truck.
the 8.3's dont like to wind up much. That's why I steer people to the IH family, mainly the DT466. It has a shorter stroke than the 8.3 and has about the same rpm range as a dawge/ Cummins "B". You can easily wind a 466 (stock internals)to 4000 if you had stiffer valve springs to stop valve float.
