I have an IBM with XP Pro, and hate it with a burning passion. I use Macintosh OS X 10.4 Tiger almost all the time. It's very good. However, my heart belongs to Mac OS 9.2. The machine I was running it on lost it's hard drive, and the rest of the hardware is so old it's not worth fixing. Best OS I have ever used.
I like XP...it's been pretty stable for me.
As I have posted in another thread....I have an older PC with Windows 3.1...complete with a 5 1/2" floppy drive. Like johnstechhelp posted in that thread...it is the most stable MS operating system ever.
I use Win2K Pro on my main computer. Laptop has ME but I'd really prefer 98Se. ME sucks. XP is okay but seems less stable than 2K when something does crash.
I've played with different flavors of Linux. I really, really wish one of them could run all the little odd programs I use, because I'd love to dump Windows completely.
I just gave up my last Win3.11 systems a couple years ago, only because I really needed to clear out stuff and clean up my computer room. They even got on the internet and shared files with my newer systems. Only problems I had with them were trying to find web browsers and anti-virus, and I think if I'd looked harder, I could have still found them.
i dont understand how people can say they have had problems with xp. i never do anything like disk cleanup and or defrag and my computer ran for 2 months without being restarted and the longest it has been off was 6 hours since ive built it and its been running the os for over a year now. no problems
Winders XP Pro here, XP on most of the machines at home except for on old 98SE. Zero issues with XP other than this virus that's still propagating itself around the stores.
Mrs. Bear has a Mac Laptop with 10.something on it. She loves it, and swears by Macs.
I use XP Pro on the main computer, 2K on backup laptop, XP Pro on main Laptop, 98 on office desktop. Wife uses XP Home on play computer and XP Pro on work desktop. I do like the XP Pro best. Never messed with an Apple but may have to try it out sometimes.
Im going to have to put OS/2 out there.. just because. It was doign things back in 95 that Windoze is still working on. Just bad marketing and a wreckage from some antitrust lawsuits kept it from being really big..
