I have a 1999 F250 CC Longbed, 7.3L w/4R100. The tranny works fine when driving with the pedal, but when you turn the cruise control on, it feels like the truck is "bucking". Any ideas? Is this the TC locking and unlocking?
The only mods done to this truck are an old Hypertech 50hp programmer and a Banks 6-gun(running on stock setting, using as gauges only). And I left the stock programming on the tranny, not the Hypertech.
Bowed, I just put in my six gun and I have similar issues I believe. I put my six gun on level 6 and watched the fuel meter. It goes from 112 to 140 then up and down and so on. Its worse when I put the chip in the pcm. Im thinking mine is both the ipr being dirty again and the o rings on the drain valve not holding pressure. What do you think? I would like to compare notes on out six guns if you put your hypertech on 75 hrs. Troy
I have had this problem since I got the truck. I got the SixGun and it was alittle worse. I would call it annoying but tolerable shudder in cruise. It did seem to act worse when I used the higher levels of the SixGun. I then got my Hypertech programmer about three weeks ago. I have ran my truck w/ the Programmer only and w/ the programmer and SixGun on. It still seems to have the same problem, but it is worse than before.
I read the TSB and it doesn't feel like the tranny is shifting in and out of OD because the rpm's don't move, it just bucks kinda like a bad u-joint type of feel, but ONLY when the Cruise Control is on.
On another note, have you had any display problems w/ your SixGun? Mine has recently started sporatically working/not working/displaying jibberish.
Ive noticed on my 6gun that if i key up on a cb radio or anyone near me with enouph power keys up it feeds my tuner the incorrect temp and boggs down. Also I may have a dirty ipr again. Try that first. Cleaning your ipr. As for the screen that is a bad batch and banks should warranty it.
My '01 PSD has a "bucking" condition at 69-70 mph in cruise on a slight downgrade. It reminds me of a gasser with the carb jets too small. I run the HyperTech PPIII and have had it in since 12,500 miles. I spoke with HyperTech tech support and they said they thought it was probably a fault with the PCM. I never did have it looked at, and I still have that little bucking, but I've just accepted it 'cause of PCM flash concerns.
Truck has always run absolutely great in spite of this condition.
My truck does the exact same thing, except since I have put the HPIII programmer on it does the "bucking" thing even on flat ground, but ONLY in cruise.
Did you install the HPIII tranny program on yours? I only loaded the engine program because I was leary of adjusting a tranny with so many miles on it (299,000miles).
Maybe the problem is that I type in invisible words.
Read my post above. It's the second post, right below your original post. That TSB exactly describes your problem. Ford knows about the problem and how to fix it. Get 'er done!
