I am looking for a topper for my 2003 SD w/ long bed. I am finding a lot of used toppers for Chevy and Dodge but nothing for the long ford. So my question is what will fit on the Ford bed? any information would be great.
I have a 2002 F-350 long bed and have been researching brans like Leer and ARE, the main difference in price seems to be features.
ARE offers a basic topper for around $1200 that has sliding side windows, framed rear window and sits on tops of the factory bed rails.
They offer an upgraded unit that had a frameless rear window and pop-out corner windows and is snug to top of bed rail, does not show through, make the truck looke like a EXCURSION, costs about $1800
I saw a truck yesterday with a Leer cap, looked really cool, I am going to get some more info on it this week!!!
let me know what you think and if you buy one, send me some pics!!!
Used SD toppers are relative hensteeth if you're looking for a bargain. Same with cross boxes. I've temporarily thrown the high topper from my '95 F-250 longbed on my '02 crewcab dually....it's about 4" too narrow in front and the same too wide in the rear. Be really careful if you shop used in a long distance deal....have them put a tape on it.
