a friend of mine told me that there is such a thing as an electric turbo...basically and electric fan that pushes air into the engine. i looked it up and found a site that offers a 120 cfm electric turbo for 600$ rougly....i checked out radio shack and found a 65 cfm electric fan for around 20-30 $....though it is easier said than done, is this 600$ 'electric turbo' the same thing as installing an electric fan in the air intake hose? if the answer is yes, i feel sorry for the people who spent 550$ too much....also, are these really worth what they say they are? thanks for the help

At what pressure would that fan flow 500 cfm?
If your engine needs say 500cfm, and your fan gives it 500 cfm, you don´t get any more performance.
If your engine needs just 250 cfm, the fan can keep up with the flow, but is the tiny fan motor up to forcing the air into the engine(compress the air?)
Remember that as you increase pressure, flow goes down.
You would need a huge electric motor, and some serious batteries...
It is just not practical...
The big motor would drain the battery in a second(ok, a few seconds...maybe), and the extra energy needed, would load the alternator pretty good, and probably use all your new extra power.
I guess there is a reason it is not normally used by everyone, and a reason blowers and turbos have nice and beefy parts.
They see a pretty good load, as they work.
