Uh Oh....no No No

Well I replaced the glow plugs with motorcraft ones all on the drivers side. The passenger side ones were stuck...so i will leave them set....Anyways. when i went to the passenger side, i pushed on the line from the top of the fuel filter too hard i guess, and the plastic connector broke....in fact, three of them broke...are these a common part and how much $$?? Can i drive it with those off??

You can buy an entire set with lines , o-rings and clamps for around $30.00 . They are on ebay or you can go to Dieselmann's store online .

Thanks for the quick help. The closest dealer with em was quite a drive, but i had other trucks to drive, so i just took the ranger. However, I may have gotten a little dirt on the top of the injector...if thats what that is with the line going to it. I put everthing back together, with some new plugs....the truck is on a manual start GP system with a button, however, when i push the button down, sometimes the voltage drops a bit, and other times it does not. I always hear the click, but sometimes, especially recently nothing happens....Had to resort to starting fluid as i have no other way of starting her. Where is my BLOCK HEATER?! i can't find the wire...that may help...thanks again!

The drop in the voltage indicates GP operation check all the GPs with a test light.....

You say stuck GP as in will not turn in the head........or turnout, but cannot be removed.

Your block heater is above the starter in a frost plug. Check the cord is plugged in and.................First make sure the BH red power plug is in the BH, then do a continuity test with a meter on the main plug wires at the grill. If there is no continuity check the wires for breaks just behind the 120V plug. Pull on the wires and you can see the break as the shielding gets smaller, cut off the end. If the 2 power wires now have continuity through the BH just replace the 3 prong plug.

My glow plugs are set up with a manual push button to operate the glow plug solenoid . I replaced the glow pug solenoid with a regular ford starter solenoid , it works fine . I have 2 trucks set up this way with no problems .

Boy am I not a happy camper. This isn't a 7.3, but rather a 6.9. wonderful, i wonder how that motor found it's way into it....nonetheless, who ever did teh job, i must say, did a great job. As for my problems...the 3rd injector back leaks fuel from below the plastic cap thing, however i checked, triplechecked even, the o rings, and they both look great. No cracks or anything... and to top it off, i still can't get the gp's to work like they should. I'm still happy that it drives, but the 6.9 would explain why it is slower than slow....

Can i just put some silicone on the little cap where it is leaking, or is the pressure too much? oh ya...the gp's are swelled on the pass. side. Are there any visual differences between the 6.9 and 7.3? Could it be maybe mine has 6.9 valve conver stickers?

don't sweat the 6.9 just as good as a 7.3

yes, orings will leak even if they 'look good'
no don't use silicone

sounds rough bout the glowplugs. google 'ziggster' good info on glowplug removal.

best of luck

For some odd reason, now it leaks fuel really really bad. Left a huge spot on my driveway...how much are new injetors? i hope thats my problem.... i will also fix the cracked fuel ret's. on a side note, does anyone know why randomly when turning the steering gets really hard to turn, then losens back up?

You should not need new injectors to fix the leak . Find where the leak is at and let us know .
Have you had the Power Steering pump off ? The Power steering pump has a plunger that is a relief valve . It could be sticking . It could also be air in the system .
