6 freakin degrees outside (who knows what the windchill is), and I'm out in the garage (doors open for extra light) putting on my new Huskyliners mud guards
quick and painless (except for the last screw on the back guards), but just DERN COLD!!!! If it were at least in the teens or twenties I'da had the back wheels off for that last screw...but I'm due for a tire rotation in about 1500 miles - I'll have them shoot the last one in when the back tires are off
It is a good thing their weren't any grandmas around or you may have been scolded pretty good for a stunt like you have described.
I am pretty sure they sell portable quartz lights at the Home Depot or lowe's pretty darn cheap. I bet if you had one you could close those doors. To make things even more comfortable you may even get one of those portable quartz heaters. However, if Lowe's or H.D. aren't in the armpit of IL (yes, a shameless plug for the company I work for is coming up), check out this website: www.tpicorp.com and give them a call to get good quality US built products (except for the crappy little 110v portables that are made in China like everone elses). Just ask to find out who your local rep is when you call and the good stuff will arrive before you know it. Their products are sold under many trade names such as Markel, Raywall, Redd-i, & TPI Industrial but it is all the same stuff so just pick the name you like the best. Heck they even make lights!
Yeah, I know it's a lot to ask after you just came in from the cold, but would you mind snapping a picture of the huskyliner mud guards for me? I picked up my new '05 yesterday and I want to buy the same flaps, but I'd like to see them on a Ford first. There's a guy on ebay that has the set of 4 for 69.99 including shipping.
I just put a set of the husky's on my 04 screw monday afternoon,i left my tires on and had no problem's getting any of the screw's in.I also left the garage door down and heater on lol.

BBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
say, i thought the armpit of ill. was JOILET or joylet..as some say....
tonight I had to bust out the ever-ready Ariens (snowthrower). 4" dumped on us so far today...now who looks like the bright guy braving the cold to put those guards on???
I have a work light (500 watt halogen), but it was just that - at work. As far as a heater goes - I have been debating for 2 years now if I should run a gas line out into the garage for a nice little Reznor heater, but after a shameless plug from a fellow FTEer...I can look at a few other brands too.
The guards are really nothing to write home about as far as looks, but function wise - well, my factory step bars aren't caked with snow and slush; YEAH! I'll try to make a gallery on here soon...
If you decide on gas, Reznor is the way to go. They make a good product and are a good company. However, if you decide on electric, don't forget about us.

Are you guys putting those screws in directly into the fender metal, or are there retaining clips used?
I'd be reluctant to screw holes in the metal as they would not have the rust protection needed to prevent corrosion over a long period of time. Thoughts?
Normally any commercial gas unit will require a vent for exhaust and electricity to power the fan and ignitor. I am sure that for gas unit heaters pricing will be based on the BTU's. Electric unit heaters are normally priced upon Kilowatts or BTU's. As I do not work for Reznor I cannot be any more specific. Nevertheless, they do produce quality products.
Good looking truck pics in the gallery. I know once me and the misses get past the baby toting stage I will be downsizing the 2wd Supercrew for somthing very similar to what you have. Certainly looks like somebody with frozen fingers did a good job on those flaps.

Hope that helps
I'm not wanting a Reznor I'm wanting one of those infrared units you had posted. one of the sheetmetal shops I worked in had those units but i don't remember if they had a flue or not.
As for the Reznor's, I have put in many of them and yes they are a great product and very easy to install!
