Not sure what you mean by a "352 block." The same block was used for the 352, 360 and 390. The 360 and 390 were just bored to 4.05", whereas the 352's bore is 4.00". As you've pointed out, guys bore 352s .050" over all the time to convert them to 360s or 390s.
If you are referring to the "352" that is stamped into the front of the block, be aware that pretty much all FE engines had this stamp regardless of displacement. It might have been a 360 or 390 or even 410 from the factory and it would still have "352" stamped into it.
