I have a 1997 F-150 that the odometer stopped on. It is a mechanical one not digital, can the milage be retrieved from the computer or ECM? If I can not get the milage from the computer I am screwed, my warranty won't cover my claim to get the instrument panel cluster replaced. I have been told no that this year truck does not record milage on the computer???? Thanks
The mileage can not be retrieved from the PCM. It doesn't record it.
What happened to the odometer? Doesn't mileage still show on it?
Do you have any recent repair orders, say from getting the truck serviced, that would have the mileage on it?
The odometer quit working at 81527, that was 1 year ago. I did not think that it would be covered by my warranty. Well I had it at a local shop and they said yeah it would be coverd, well my warranty people wont touch it because I let the odometer sit for a year with out fixing it, that was dumb on my part My warranty is good until 106,000. I have around 90,000 on it, of course they won't take my word on it. So I screwed myself out of getting my instrument cluster replaced. If the pcm did record milage I would be okay, the warranty company said have the milage pulled, but I have since learned my truck don't record it. I just wanted to check here to be sure.
