Door Lights?

Have a 05 250 CC Lariat. There are some red lenses in the driver and passenger front doors that look like they should light up at some time. I have a buddy with an 02 350 CC XLT and his light up when the doors are opened. Did Ford just stop putting the lights in there since 02? I would think that the Lariat would have the lights before the XLT.

Yes, Ford stopped putting the lights behind the door lense things. My 2000, in the frotn doors has clear lens with light, and smaller red reflector next to it. Rear doors just have red reflectors, no light.

Many have added the lights behind the front lenses - you'll probably need a socket and wiring stuff, and bulb. Some have even added them to the rear doors - having to cut some space out behind the lens to make room for the bulb. If you search I think you'll find some instructions or writeups from those who've added them. There have also been a few on the DieselStop site that have done writeups, as well.

My 99 had the red deflectors that did not light up. I popped the lens and the socket were there but no bulbs. Have you tried to pop the lens off and see if the sockets are there? Its worth a shot. Good luck

Have not taken the lenses off yet. Wanted to pick the brains of FTE people first. If I do have the luck that there are just no bulbs, how do I know what bulb # to buy?

I'm pretty sure a few have posted on it before. A little searching will probably reveal any part numbers you need, and possibly some writeups on removing door panel, pulling wires if need be, etc.

If you want to pop the lenses off for a quick peek at what you've got, stick a key in the little slot where the lens meets the door and just sort of pry it and it pops off easily.

So, on some trucks, Ford may have went as far as installing a socket and wiring but just left the bulb out?

Go to the 6.0 diesel forum and check the sticky posts on top. There you will find a topic on missing parts for newer trucks. The parts numbers are listed there.

It was one of many things FMC screwed us on. No door lights, glove box light, hood insulaton or fender well liners. But we got the mystery hook (place to hang girlfriends thong) Not that hard to do the door lights, I've added everything Ford left off my truck. If you pop the lens out you will recongnize the hole for the socket. I want to say it is a 94 light and socket. You steal power from under the plastic door sill on the drivers side. It is the interior lamp light wire.

jetact - I have the light and contact for the glove box. I'm having trouble locating the pigtail for it. Where did you get yours? oh, I have a f350 SD CC.

I didn't use a pigtail. I took out the mystery hook and used a wire tap and took power from the lighter wires.
