Aerostar -> Ranger engine swap possible???
I have a 93 Aerostar that is falling apart. All except the motor that was brand new 30,000 miles ago. Looking to buy a 83-84 Ranger with a knock in it. Both motors are V-6. The Aerostar is TBI and the Ranger is carburated. Know I would have to switch a bunch of parts like intake and such, but will the base block/head assb. fit from the Aerostar into the Ranger. Can get the Ranger for $75.00, is clean and 4X4. Any input would be appreciated. Will also cross post in Aerostar forum. Thanks

I don't believe you can carb a 3.slow.
If the Taurus didn't ever come with it, then you definitely have NO chance to pull this off. All Ranger 3.slows were EFI.
The Ranger v6 is a 2.hate, I presume? It's not related in ANY way to a 3.slow....
Maybe you can make it work, but that comes along the lines of "Can I convert a 2.8L to a 2.9L?" out-of-left field questions...

The Aerostar would have a 3.0L engine right?
Alfred is right, it can't be converted to carb, my fault for thinking it was possible, a little research proved otherwise.
If you're pulling the V6 out of the old Ranger and dropping the 3.0L from an Aerostar in, I don't see a reason it won't work. It will take modification on your part, but it will work.
