This may be a dumb question. I am looking to purchase a 2006 F-250 w/ a V10. I noticed that the truck has the upgraded 275/65/20 tires instead of the stock 265/70/17. I was wondering what the difference between the two would be? The ride? Fuel mileage? Fuel mileage in general is not a concern to me, just wondering what to expect with the 20's.
Slightly larger over all tire diameter
More expensive replacement tires
Harsher ride quality (less side wall give)
Dramatically reduced tire selection for various load ranges
Better cornering stability ( the 16inch behavior was god)
I notice no significant difference in cornering stability with the 18 inch tires I had to get with the King Ranch
The 18, and 20 inch rims are a reaction to marketing.
2005 and up can not use 16 inch rims because of larger brake rotor and caliper.
If I had to choose today I would try for the 17 inch rims.
