Jackford's Follow-Up
I hope you don't mind, Jackford but I started a new thread on your follow up question. Anyhow, it's pretty easy. Remove the #1 spark plug. It's the front one on the pax side. Make sure your ignition is off and take off the coil high tension lead. Get a 15/16" socket and a breaker bar. Attach the socket to the damper bolt and turn the engine clockwise a little at a time. Put a finger over the spark plug hole when you see the damper numbers start to come around. If you are on the compression stroke you will feel a lot of air escaping from the cylinder and you are heading for top dead center of the compression stroke. If you don't, then you have to go around again. Here's a photo of the damper. The green arrow is TDC, the red is 10° and the yellow is 20° before TDC. The other photo shows where the rotor should be pointing when you are on TDC of the compression stroke. Good luck.
