well to start off with i just aquired this truck...
it's a 1986 Ranger XLT extended cab 4X4, 2.9L V6, 5sp.
everything on it works good except i cant get the front hubs to lock.
i can defentally tell the transfercase is working so there has to be something wrong with the hubs, but i am unfimiar with this type of hub setup.
ideas would be helpful..

This might be a little obvious but have your tried putting the truck in 4x and then gently tapping on the hibs with a big rubber mallet? I am asuming they are auto locking hubs...maybe they haven't been used on a while and are just a little frozen up so to speak? Might be worth a try -
to see if its the hubs.. put the front end on jack stands..not ramps. lock in the front hubs and spin the tires, if the front axle turns the hubs are fine. if the front drive shaft turns the front end is fine.. also while your under there. check the fluids.. i mean your already down and getting dirty lol
