I have one on my 04 and it also works great. Be sure that they place a 20 - 30 sec delay relay in the system so your plugs have time to heat.
So is that how everyone else has theirs done? I always wondered how you accounted for the glow plugs w/ a remote start. For those of you who have the alarm/remote start on their truck, what are you paying installed and for what system?

I have the DEI Valet model 592T system installed for $200 parts and labor. It was installed by a dealer certified installer, so I have the full ford factory warrenty still in place for the electrical system. This system is remote start only with 2 remotes and a 600 foot range. It has no knowledge of the status of the doors or windows (not a security system), but it does have a starter disable function that shuts down the engine under remote start conditions when someone tries to drive off without the key inserted. Works great, and it doesn't interfere with the keypad on the door. This unit has an input for a diesel glow plug status, but the installer indicated that hooking up to this line on the Fords has been a problem, it sometimes sets a CEL condition, so he set if for a fixed delay of around 15 seconds. In the Califorinia climate, this is plenty long enough, the glow plug light always turns off way before the starter ingages. I also have it set for automatic arming, so that whenever the ignition is turned off, the system arms itself 30 seconds later (starter disengaged, doors lock), and remains this way till the remote is used to disarm it. You can unlock the doors and open them all you want with the factory remote or the key lock, and the system is happy. If you try to start the truck however, the horn goes off, unless you have disarmed it first, and the starter doesn't engage.
I would check again on that. 300dB is a huge number. For example a jet plane at 100ft is about 130dB. 300dB would be 280 times as loud as that. You would go deaf almost instantly. Not something you would want in your car, just in case it accidentally went off or you accidentally set it off.
ON EDIT: One of the company engineers is now saying that 300dB is 100,000,000,000,000,000 times louder than 130dB.

A 300dB sound pressure level (SPL), in rough numbers, would create an absolute pressure of 20 BILLION Pascals, or something on the order of 197,000 atmospheres. Please don't set your alarm off... you'll blow up the planet.
Back in the day, when I used to install alarms, piezo sirens were lovingly referred to as "pain generator's". I don't know if they still are though, seeing how the PC crowd has taken over. They definately work.
