Hey all, '95 F-150 351W. My dang exhaust brackets all rusted out and snapped, and now my tailpipes gone (broke off itself, at the out on the muffler) I am cutting off my muffler tomorrow, I don't know where to do it though.
There is a seam a couple feet back from the cats/couple feet in front of the muffler. Would I want to do it there?
OR
Would I want to do it as close to the muffler as possible, in order to save that straight pipe thats still on there. at least until I can get new piping. I'm going to run a single straightpipe out the back (behind rear axle)
~Matt
Unfortunately I don't have a cutting torch, so it won't be all that fun, but that's why we have hack saws
cut it as close to the muffler as possible , a hack saw or a sawzall will work fine , clean the outside of the cut with a file and the new pipe will slide right over< bob
thanks bob. Did it right next to the muffler. It was a bunch of work using the hacksaw... thought about going to my local mechanic to borrow his torch. Took me maybe 15 minutes. Havent listened to it yet, but I'll have plenty of time to do that.
I'll work on that... but being a high school student, I don't have the $"bling"$ lol. This being the main reason I am only cutting off the muffler, and not adding a new one or even purchasing a nice, well set-up cat back.
