Thumbs up Saw a Lincoln Truck the other day.

I have to say it was one of the coolest styles in trucks I have ever seen. next to the 1939 Chevy's and the current GMC design . it was definately everything i thought it would look like. Personally the rest of the lincoln line is ok but this one takes the cake.

I have a hard time believing anybody would lay out that kind of cash for a F 150.

TIM , about the only thing that comes to my mind regarding a Lincoln P/U truck is a fool and his money are soon parted.

that thought also applies to Cadillac and their little foray into the market too.

They are nice looking trucks and if you have the money then by all means get one. It's just marketing boys. Even some of the rich guys like to drive trucks, but still want to maintain an image of wealth. Is it vanity? Well yeh, and if I had the money I would probably buy one. It would look very good parked next to Mercedes and BMWs at the club LOL. The only problem is valet would expect a bigger tip.

Indeed. Here's one other aspect to consider.

I recently saw a utility contractor who has several of the Mark LT's in the company fleet. Presumably these are foreman/sales guys driving them, as they weren't outfitted for working (tools, etc.). As you are probably aware, there are tax advantages to purchasing a pickup truck with >8k gvw in that you have the option of deducting a larger percentage of the depreciation (relative to other vehicles) in the year it was purchased.

Sooooo, this utility contractor not only gave their guys a very nice "ride", they were potentially able to claim a larger tax deduction as well.

Just my $0.02!

The most frequently vehicle purchased by millionaires is the F150. I'm sure some will want something fancier. The Lincoln Town Car is just a gussied up fancier Crown Vic and they sell a bunch of them. The Lincoln Navigator is just a ......... etc. but they sell them to a lot of people.

So when you take your truck out in the fall bird hunting, and come back with your boots covered in gumbo mud up to your knees, and your dog the same,

...does the butler have a change of clothes into your silk robe , pipe and slippers, when you buy one of those things?

Hell, people lay out the cash for a King Ranch and thats only a couple grand less than the Lincoln. Cadillac showed there is a market for luxury truck's, Ford is just trying to get some of it. At least they did a better job than last time(Blackwood).

Lincoln should do something different with Mark LT's bed, maybe something similar to what Cadillac did with Escalade EXT. Don't change size of bed, just add more style. If Lincoln wants from people to think that Mark LT offers more luxury than F-150 then change more than grille.

the hard part of a lincoln truck is you have to find a lincoln dealer. for every lincoln dealer there is about 10 ford dealers.

Expanding on Red Star's comment.
I would love to see a factory hardwood bed floor. I think this would be a great oppurtunity to do it...
