Recently bought 87 F-150 4WD. Its in time, has fire & gas. Seems to be on verge of cranking just doesn't quite get there. Its been suggested a new fuel pressure regulator will solve problem. Any thoughts on this. Thanks

 

Maybe Timing chain?

 

Many things could cause the problem.It must be diagnosed,-(first) what is the fuel pressure?(2)Have you checked to see you have have good spark?

I'm going ahead and replacing timing chain. Previous owner removed dist. without marking to replace Ing. control mod. He states it wouldn't crank one day to next. The more I think about it the I believe it may have jumped time. Has good spark & gas pressure. Thanks for responces.
