I have a 1988 Bronco II 2.9L w/ a bad miss-firing problem. It happens mostly on the Hwy when the engine is at propper opperating temperature. Without warning the engine dropps a cylinder (or 2?) and goes down on power to the point that maintaining any kind of speed requires pening the throttle all the way. If i let the throttle out i can hear a pop pop pop sound comming from the engine compartement (fuel in the exhaust manifold?). If i can manange to get the truck up over 120km/h (75mph) often times it will "pop" a few quick times and then pick up the dropped cylinder again.
i Have replaced
Distributor cap and rotor
Plugs (ngk)
wires
I have done a code scan and it's not currently throwing any codes.
The truck is goin into the local dealership tommorow but i have no idea what direction to point them in
