Question 4x4 lockout hubs

Hey guys,

Is it possible to purchase the retaining ring(s) for the factory "Auto" 4x4 lockout hubs separate from the dealer?

Thanks,
biz

Hey Rich... ...good sense of humor. No to both...but I was just curious. One never knows when they start a new project...and would hate to lose or break one...then be stuck buying a whole new hub for a $5(?$?$?) part.

Thanks...I think I will give the dealership a quick call.

Called a local dealership and they can order the retaining ring separately. Which is a GOOD thing...

Cost for the retaining ring about $11.00. But was told unless I did something foolish...I would have a hard time destroying it just by removing it.

I think you'd be more likely to lose it than break it. Mine came out with my bare fingers after 175,000...

I'll be taking my original hubs out later this week - let me know if you need one of the rings and I'll send it your way.

BTW, I found a guy locally with a set of factory hubs (still in plastic) that he sold me for $125. Still more than the warns and probably not as strong, but keeps the stock setup if I sell the truck in the near future. Now I just need needle bearings, axle shaft ends and a bunch of seals .

I hope to start my project on Wednesday.
