pinion seal replacement

I am just before going into the garage and doing exploratory surgery on my 2000 F-550 rear-end-there is a major leak (90w) on the front of the diff. Iam not sure as to how the pinion seal is removed (I'll do it the hard way anyway) I cannot locate any site that has pictures of my diff. so I dont know how much will need to be removed---If you have ever replaced a pinion seal---PLEASE tell me about it. Maybe I'll have one more cup of coffee before I start. Two-dogs66

the best suggestion I can make is to do a search for "pinion seal" in this forrum , there is a whole lot of info in here, bob

Consider having a shop do it unless you are prepared to handle 500 ft/lbs on the pinion nut.

you sir are absolutely correct at least 500ftlbs as I found out the hard way, but I got er done and because of the nut in Question I will allways remember the experience----------two-dogs66
