You hit the nail on the head. The 4" will reduce egt's and that is about it except for a better sound as well but you will want to upgrade to an open air intake to get more air in to also help the exhaust cool things down.
Don't underestimate the importance of cooler EGT. According to Dale Isley at Tymar, he has seen quite a few Powerstrokes that exceed max safe exhaust temp when pulling a load - even when stock.
And you're right - the turbo downpipe won't fit the 7.3.

yes, i would recommend the "kwik" filter, also. it is a HUGE filter to say the least, and that will allow the powerstroke to suck in all the air it needs. less restrictive. plus the exhaust will do a good job of lowering EGT's, which leads to lower temps. one more thing- i believe www.dieselperformanceparts.com sells individual parts to the systems, but i believe they are only made for MBRP systems. however since the pipe is so big and there isnt alot of room under the truck near the engine, the pipes SHOULD match up, im guessing. i would at least a get a EGT gauge and a transmission temp gauge (automatic) when towing, it could mean the difference between a new engine/transmission.
Good catch. I should have mentioned the absolute need for pyro and trans temp gauges when pushing a Powerstroke - or any diesel for that matter. Of course, adding a boost gauge wouldn't cost that much extra, and they are more fun to watch than the other two...
