Transfer case linkage

Transfer case linkage
On a 5.0L (302) with the Mazda 5 speed does the transfer case shift linkage "V" shape it makes point up or down at the ground.
I've done this a couple of times over the years now and I forgotten which way it goes. That is where the 2 linkages join it makes a "V" I hooked it back up with the pivot point high so its an upside down V. Did not try it after doing it now I'm wondering.
Poorly worded question but it makes sense to me....
