Almost sounds like Portland. I've never seen a city before that, when cars get stuck in a snowstorm, folks just lock em up where they were and walk off. Amazing.
When I hear the word snow in a weather forecast I gather up some firewood, restock with ammo, fuel up the tractor and make sure my Carhartt insulated bibs and my boots are near the heat vent or woodstove.
Next morning I go hunting with the bird dogs, clear out a few driveways, folks flag me down to come do theirs then I go bird hunting again.
Come wind, rain, snow, high water and hell weather ain't stopping me, often it encourages me!
No, I'm retired now. Thankfully I don't have to fight that mess daily. Getting so a 12 mile trip to Waldorf from Clinton is a half day trek with even the daytime traffic.
Saw on the news this morning, the dairy shelves in the grocery stores were almost bare this morning. Panic time!
So where the hell did this come from,I watch the news every day and didn't hear about this until this morning calling for 8+ starting tonight then mixing with sleet and rain more for the coastline(witch is where I am).Good thing we went shopping yesterday now I just need to get gas for Barney and Im set.My little plow has a dead battery and a flat tire so its going to sit this one out!
south jersey.come on up to the northwest cornor. some of these owners of far east branded junk on wheels think they can drive though every thing. 2 inches yesterday and they all thought my lane was theirs. 4 to 6 more for late tonight and tuesday.
it's going to get worse when the nyc drivers hit this weekend with the ski areas both opening on sat.
almost forgot. 2 inches of snow and opening day of deer and bear. now where did that big bear go and hide. yep bambi is a hanging already.love being a redneck
hey chas, just remember one thing when you go on out ther with the thutty- thutty. them big black things on them there skis is not bears. bears have trouble with the binders, so don't ski.
Hey, I used to live in Waldorf. Not long before we moved to Oklahoma. Good luck with that snow storm. I remember the days of shoveling feet of snow just to get from our apartment to the parking lot. I must say though, there are better snow drivers out there than here in Oklahoma. I would guess that comes from years of dealing with the stuff. Stay warm and carry an empty pop bottle, or two, in case you get stuck on the beltway with no place to go.

I've got a little more than 3 years to go before I can retire. (May 1, 2009, but who's counting!?!?!?)
Only problem with that is, my wife says that I CAN retire, but, I better have the laundry done, the house clean, the shopping done, and dinner on the table, by the time she gets home. (Oh yeah. . . some retirement to look forward to!)
Schools let out 2 hours early today and my daughter forgot her keys. I got called out of work early. (Awe shucks. I missed RUSH hour!)
Yup. I know Clinton rather well. I grew up running around Clinton/Brandywine area. Clinton Plaza Shopping Center, Mickey D's across Woodyard Road from the shopping center, BK Miller's and Hyde Field and The Ranch Drive-In.
Ya know, I've lived here since 1967, and I've still never gone through the Mary Surratt House.
(Maybe in the spring. I'll take the kids.)
