302 flooding?
302 flooding?
I have a 93 f-150 with a 302 and it has fuel injection, but acts just like it's flooding. I didn't know a fuel injected engine could flood. It does this all the time once the engine warms up. If it ever dies once warmed up, you must wait about 10 minutes before it'll start again and if you continue to try before then, you get a strong gas smell. I discovered that if I remove the fuel pump relay (cutting off the fuel supply), the engine will start right away and then I can just plug the relay back in, let it idle for a bit, then it's okay. I've replaced the fuel pressure regulator and checked the timing and neither helped. Anyone have any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else?
I'd still check your fuel pressure. It should be around 35 or 40 PSI at idle. Next time you start it, hold it to the floor while cranking, as this shuts off the injectors. Once it starts, let off the gas of course lol.
