My number one son came one step closer to deciding to get involved with and old 50 F-1 pick up. Like me he has an affinity for the super coupe T-bird. He has decided to make an extended cab and put it on his 90 F-150. There will have to be some plannig but the beauty of it is he has all the parts. He made the arrangements for the F-1 today and now can't wait to get on the other side of winter. Yes the old man has a climate controlled shop but I have priorities.
That is very cool. Should be a neat project too. The 90 F-150's track width is a little wider than the 50 F-1's, so keep that in mind. Be sure to keep us updated with pics.
I wish!!!! It would be really fun to have rebuilding trucks in common with one of my boys, but...they are both too bust being successful and "involved" in stuff.
Sounds like a great plan, keep us posted on the prgress.
My younger boy gets involved and helps with my old truck. He went so far as to tell my wife that she should get me a six pack intake manifold for X-mas. Woohooo!
(If they only made them for my 500ci)
Sounds cool. I don't believe I've ever seen a F1 extended cab.
They aren't stock, and they take a lot of work to make (I know I'm building one) take a look in my gallery and you can see pics of what I've done so far. Mine is an F-3, but uses the same cab as a F-1

Looks really nice! I knew they weren't stock, but there are a fair amount of 53-56 versions of extended cabs around.
The lack of interior room is one reason I didn't build a F1; I wish I had the ability to do the extended cab so, being slightly taller than average, I could get some stretch room.
I'm sorry for not getting back to you all. The pressure of getting a couple of aircraft ready for the Holidays has been overwhelming. I won't make it with the one but the other has been delivered and I will get the other completed for the New Year if all goes well. As for the son's project, I know there will be a great deal of thought process involved before he cuts anything up. We value the old metal too much to waste anything. We will check out the threads before doing anything rash. You all have a Great Holiday Season.
