anybody do a SAS (solid axle swap)on the newest model bronco i already have a 78' high pinion. along with how to do the hole thing, what should i do with the 4 wheel ABS (not RABS) whitout turning the abs light on, i don't think i can use my IFS knuckel because of the steering componets,ANY IDEAS
Well there was guy that took an 05 engine tranny and computer and put abs on his 78 by milling a plate that bolts up with the rotor. You might do a search for it cause I don't can't recall were it was, maybe super ford.com
I did the SAS on my 88. I am also using the 78 D44 housing. I dont have ABS. I thought that from the spindle out everything was the same. I may be wrong.
Hey slimfitz, do you have any pics of your sas (specificly tracbar) thats the only thing i'm wondering about because i don't want to mount it up and then come to find out after my springs break in the axle has shift to one side, you know what i mean and do i need 6" of lift or can i get away with 4 or will i have clerance problemswith the trac bar location and does anybody know where i can get new spring and shock towers
I might have some pics of the trac bar on this computer. I will have to look. I am assuming you are wondering about the upper mount. I pondered over that one for awhile. I am using a superlift adjustable trac bar for a 78 Bronco. The upper mount is just a piece of 2x2 square tubing that is welded to the bottom of the frame. I have to trac bar adjusted almost all the way in and my axle is centered. You can buy brand new coil buckets from broncograveyard.com . You can also buy superflex coils from them. I have heard that they are an awesome spring. I am running 6" Skyjacker springs. I dont think you can get away with only 4" springs. I think you will hit the pumpkin on the crossmember. I cut the whole front crossmember out and still will hit the pumpkin if I come down hard. I will look for some pics of the tracbar. This is where I got all my pictures and research from.
Well I just tried to post a reply concerning the SAS and it said that the moderators need to aprove it first. What is the deal? If you email me I will tell you all about the SAS.
