I have a 99 ranger 4x4 with 100,000 miles and I just did the the hub conversion to being locked in full time. For the first 5 days everything worked and went well, then all the sudden the front end started making some very loud noise and constant thumpping. The noise sounds like you are dragging a bunch of tin cans under the truck. This happens for about 20-30 mins and then goes away for a little while and then comes back. Also once all these noises started the brakes have been terrible... long travel before the brakes start working, pulsating under 5 mph but not everytime, ABS come on on dry pavement for no reason at slow speeds. Any help would be a big help.
Sounds like something isn't right. I reccomend pulling the front wheels and looking over ALL your work to see if ANYTHING looks suspicious.
Very much sounds like something is loose.
Did you reinstall the brakes correctly? I would jack it up and check both sides to make sure I didn't do something wrong or forget something..
We all can forget, or miss something. Do you have a book for the truck? If so compare what is in the book to what you have.
Jack both sides up, support with jack stands, make sure you chock the rear wheels and turn the wheels by hand to see if you can figure out where the noise is coming from.
Then check your book to make sure all is correct.
A book for your truck at the autoparts store should be around $20.00
