auto hub conversion?

Hi folks...I am new here and hoping for some help...I have a 1995 Ranger 3.0 4wd... 120,000 mi I have had this truck for about 5 years and it has been pretty good except for the 4wd system. I have replaced the left auto hub 3 times and it blew out again this morning. Any ideas why and is there a conversion kit for manual hubs. I am not beating on this truck...it just happens under normal driving conditions. Any help would be greatly appriciated....thanks!....great site!

I have an add'l question beyond this one.

Go to google and do a search for Warn Hubs. I think the warn hub #'s you need are 29071 & 32720.

My question is with the push button 4wheel inside, during the winter can I leave the hubs in locked position and then just engage on the fly the 4wheel? My original ranger had lock outs so during the winter all I did was keep them in lock position and when it was slippery or bad road conditions I would reach down and engage the four wheel. Is it the same principle except the push button just engages?

I've been down this conversion road many back in 98. If you go to warn.com you will see the hubs you need. Spicer makes the needed hardware for wheel bearing retention and adjustment. For this reason, you might look at a local 4WD supply house. Leaving the hubs locked has no bearing on the operation of the electric shift transfer case. Lock the hubs in advance and engage/disengage the transfer case as needed. Leaving the hubs locked while it's not in 4X seems to drop gas mileage by about 1/2 MPG (4.0).
