What is that sliver cylinder that runs from the oil cooler to the front of the block?
That big tube is the oil cooler. There is no fuel leaking from it. It can leak coolant under pressure, but only at the back (above the oil filter) where the block heater installs through the cooler head.
The fuel feed and return lines use small ports on the ends of the heads. I'd guess that would be the leaks source. The best thing to do would be to thouroughly clean the area with simple green and water and let it dry completely to chase down the source. Judging fromt eh amount of "wet" area in post #3 the leak could be anywhere and just be being blown around by the fan.....need to get that cleaned up so you can start anew.
Any thoughts Ryan? Im not sure what to do other than to clean off the area again or start taking off the accessories from that area to find out whats going on.
it sucks but diesel is too expensive right now to be leaking it all over the place...
i would rip the stuff off the front right there and look...
This is interesting....My 1997 F-350 PSD just recently developed a leak in the same area.
But it is a little different, On first start in the mornings I'm getting a diesel leak in that area and blue smoke out the exhaust. As soon as the engine is warmed up no more smoke of any kind for the rest of the day and the diesel fuel leak also stops. Doesn't leak another drop until startup the next morning.
This engine only has 90k original pampered miles on it.
What could this be?
Thanks

I pulled off the ac/ps/vac brace to inspect the area. The front of the head was dirty but not freshly wet from fuel so I don’t think its coming from that high.
But I did find fresh fuel near the corner right about the front part of the exhaust manifold. I have a red circle around that.
I was really thinking that it was the fuel lines again but if that’s what’s leaking how does fuel get onto the head from the connections below? I'm still not sure what’s going on here
those hard lines come from tank.....fuel bowl, pump hard lines into the back of the heads into the fuel rails...
the plug i have circled is a copper looking shiny plug(well dirty in your case) it may be leaking from there or the hard lines...but since it goes onto the manifold like that i bet its that..the heads have one front and back both sides...i believe i gave the pn# earlier in this post.. if not repost and i will get you the oring #...good luck i bet you will find the oring to be torn when you remove the plug thats your problem.. i'd suggest you blast that area with something first...change out oring..run it and see if it leaks again then you can see where its coming from.

I cleaned up the entire area and the underbody area with some cleaner. Then I went to take that bolt out I found it to be a little loose maybe hand tight. The oring was flat and old, replaced it, tighted it back up and took her for a test drive. NO MORE LEAKS!!! This is great, I have been chasing this leak down for a few weeks. Thanks again for your help Ryan!
