new gps, now controller acting weird

Tuesday I replaced the gp's on my 93 7.3. Everyhting went fine, no problems except a few bad electrical connections. I started the truck then brought it ouside, in the morning I went to start it and the wait to start light was on for 14 seconds, then I cranked it and it fired right up like a dream. It was below zero all night, and about 3 degrees Farenheit at 10am when I started it. All is well and Im very happy.
Then this morning, (saturday) I went to start it and when I turned the key there was no wait to start light. So I turned the key off and on, still nothing. I left the key on for about 10 seconds, then cranked. It took about 10-15 seconbds of cranking then it fired up. Then this afternnon leaviong the jobsite, It did the same thing. No wait to start light. After I got home, i tried again just to see and the light worked.
I think when the truck is really cold, the controller is not working porperlly. Is this possible? Or could the relay be not working when cold? Tommorrow Im going to put a meter on it and see. Any suggestions or ideas would be great.

Read Dave Sponaugle's posts in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=435855

I think he covered all the bases.

Best question is what brand Glow plugs did you install.....if they were not Motorcraft/Beru ZD9 from Azone then they are probably burned out already.

Visit http://www.members.shaw.ca/k2pilot/ and read about GPs and the problems.

Being anything but a patron and avid reader of this site, I didnt even bother testing the autolites that were in the rig, I replaced all eight with Motorcraft/Berus from autozone asap.
Reading Ziggsters site for the umpteenth time, as you have suggested, yields little information about my problem, rather about controll bypass and GP removal procedures. Obviouslly the latter of the two is not a problem (seeing as I have replaced them already with no probs. as my post states) and althought a bypass setup would be a caveman triumph for my problem, I would much rather use everyones insight to tackel and conquer this issue and return my rig to its oem working condition. If I am wrong for not understanding you refrence to Ziggsters site (however great it is), I apologize, but I cannot find any info on the site that really pertains to my situation.
I imagine it is a controller/relay problem, which I hope to figure out soon.
Thanks for anyones help and suggestions.
Clint

I wonder if you igniton key switch went out. Powering the contoller. First check (will take 2 people) to see if you have power to contoller. If you do. Try adding a ground wire from contoller body directly to battery ground. I had to do this. kept loosing ground thru bolt.
