is anyone running a holly 80mm throttle body on a 5.4l? i found one of these to buy and was wondering how they compare to the mac or bbk. also if anyone has installed headers on a 5.4l 4x4 f-150 and could offer helpful tips before i tackle this project it would be nice, i recently purchased gibson stainless steel headers as well as stage 8 header bolts, and am a little iffy on getting the nuts and studs out of the old block without breaking them.
I plan on installing a K&N 77series intake. by stock engine do you mean no upgrades on the upper intake or cam swap things like that, or more superficial things like the K&N or headers?
I've been thinking about the TB upgrade with a TB spacer (didn't I once say they were crap? ). Anyway, I've only seen the 75mm BBK as the biggest direct replacement for a stock 5.4L F-series intake. While parts from the various mod motors swap without blinking, I'm unsure if the Holley 80mm is a direct swap. I think it may be a Mustang or Cobra only upgrade. I'd be interested to know if I'm wrong... if I am, how big is the TB spacer diameter?. It would be a waste to buy a TB spacer with a smaller diameter than the TB (restriction)... I'm trying to open the factory intake up to the manifold as much as possible.
I'm currently running a 76.2mm intake tube (3" mandrel bent 90), a 75mm TB is only slightly smaller, but 80mm would allow for a larger intake tube later (exhaust pipe and a rubber plumbing connector is cheaper to upgrade than a $180 FIPK tube ), as well as a larger aftermarket MAF.
