im looking to install a set of autometer ultra light guages trans, pyro and boost i went to black cloud diesel and for the boost there are 3 options, a standard drill and tap, a map sensor, and a aih w/ delete. i wasnt sure which one i should put on i live in wisconsin so i dont know if i want to delete the aih but if i went to a standard drill and tap mount do i have to pull the intercooler tube off, or where do i mount it.
thanks thats what i will do then also to install the pyro there is a pre or post turbo setup, are the guages fopr these different? or the only thing that matters is where you mount it?
i did the aih delete route... very easy... and clean, and so far no probs without the heater... i've gotten the aih code a few times, but that doesn't effect anything, it just comes up when i go in to review the codes with the predator... i think you get a really accurate reading of boost when you get it from this location...
I did the AIH delete also. I've been in very cold temps and have not noticed any problems. I used a a harness from Black Cloud Diesel to avoid code errors. You can make one of these pretty easy also. Anyway, it does make for a clean easy installation.
thanks guys i went with the map sensor because i wanted to keep the aih for some reason ( and because it was $50 more than the map line) but to power the guages instead of buying a guage dimmer cant you just splice into the dimmer swithc on the dash instead of the headlight switch or wont that work?
Yep just tap into the dimmer switch. Check out www.dieselmanor.com and find installation sheets and go to gauges for 7.3 and it will show which wire you need to tap into.
