Post Heater problems

Hi Guys
I have 2 or 3 questions------
(1) My heater in my 70 F-250 isn't greatest and as it finaly got cold here in Iowa this week I decided to replace the thermostat. The temp gauge never moves much either, and heater hoses felt just warm to the touch. Well the stat didn't help , still cold. I then put a piece of cardboard over the radiator, with a hole in it the size of a gallon bucket cut in the center. It helped just slightly. The question is, Does this 360 run this cool or does mine have a problem??????

(2) Can I put a cab of a 72 on the frame of a 79 4x4 and not change the body mounts? (much)

(3) Will the closed front axel (250) stand up to the weight and punishment of a med. weight snowplow?

Thanks
Dave

Heater problems

Dave,

what temperature thermostat did you put on? if you dont like the temperature it is running at you can always just put a hotter thermostat in. any engine will get hot. Your core also could be failing, which is also pretty common.

Heater problems

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Jan-02 AT 09:48 PM (EST)]Hi
I put in a 195 degree thermostat and had the core checked at the local shop. They said it flowed real good and fixed a pinhole leak in it. As I said the temp gauge still doesn't come off the cold peg much and the hoses don't get very hot.
Thanks
Dave

Does the threaded part of the temp sending unit
have Teflon tape on it?

If so, Take it off and seal it with a special conductive
compound instead(available at auto parts places).

Teflon tape reduces conduction of current and maybe
causing the problem with yours.

Heater problems

I would myself look and see if slider is moving the the water valve open and shut and if so see if it is adjusted correct and not moving in the clamp. If this is no help then remove valve and just bypass valve the feel the hoses again, if not hot then there is good chance the nipple in water pump is rusted shut, Hope this helps some
