This is my first post. I just bought a trailer to haul my Jeep to places like moab. I've hauled horses for many year but now we are out of the horse thing. On my other picup the controller and CB were next to each other. Weres a good place to install the cb and the controller in this F-150. The directions say the controller is suppose to be 12" from any kind of two way radio. It didn't seem to matter on my other rig. I really don't know if it matters on at all. So how do you guys do with these installs?
I would think the seperation would be for electric noise that could be generated in the controller that the cb could pick up. It may be possiable to hear a buzz or something when the brakes are applied on some cb radios.
I've got 6 inches between my CB and my Brakesmart controller. CB mounted on the front of the center console and the Brakesmart mounted under the Cubby. When I key the mic while braking, there is a slight trailer brake event. But when I transmit under the same conditions there is a definite harsh eratic braking that corresponds with spoken words. Otherwise, there is no interference between the two.
