I just bought a clarion srw1283 sub with duel voice coils hooking it up to a 2 chanel MTX 80w amp with crossover built in .Should I hook up each side of sub to outputs on amp or +to+ and -to- at sub with only 1 wire comming out of box?
hello
did you mean SRW1285?
if so that has dual 4 ohm VC
your wiring options
paralell = 2 ohms
pos to pos and neg to neg to connect coils
then just wire one coil -pos and neg to your amp
series = 8 ohms
pos to neg to connect the 2 coils
then pos off one coil and neg off the other
to connect to amp
what model amp do you have?
you need to wire it to your amps specs
g/l
If your amp is stable at 2ohms, then go for it. Less resistance=more thump. There really isn't a diff in wiring. Make sure all + go to + and all - go to -.
