I replaced a medium duty 331 truck engine in a F500 with a 1975 360 light truck engine...(old Boom truck) Used heavy flywheel from 331... Bought & installed rebuilt heavy duty clutch & pressure plate.... Everything bolted up well....BUT at about 2000 - 2500 rpm (which I need to drive hydraulic pump for bucket) there is pretty severe vibration..... Flywheel was resurfaced by machine shop before installation... Supposedly both engines are (were) internally balanced so that should not be issue..... Vibration still present with alternator / water pump disengaged..... Anybody got any ideas????
the issue is right there. there 331 is externally balanced. the 360 is internal. so you are going to destroy the new engine if you do not correct this soon. you need a zero balance flywheel. take off the flywheel have it turned into a zero balance flywheel.a machine shop can do it.
