I have a 1975 4x4 and I am looking for the west coast camper style stainless mirrors. I believe they were available in the 70-76 model trucks. Please help me locate a site for these and other parts for this model truck. Thank you....

I just stuck some westcoasters on my f250 and immediately
noticed the often-mentioned drawback that they tend to block
the view of oncoming traffic from 9 o'clock. This is
a problem when, for example, trying to make left turns
onto a divided highway from a small feeder road (T-intersection).
I am currently thinking of keeping the frame but replacing
the high mirrors with much shorter ones and some tubing shims
to keep the same shape in the frame. I think you can buy
everything modular so you could do the same but just
go straight to smaller (i.e. more square) mirrors.
What I end up with will probably not look as cool as
full westcoasters, if I can't get used to them and decide
to do the swap...
I bought a set of Junior West Coast Mirrors from Checker Auto. They don't obstruct the view as bad as the full size mirrors. Any of these truck type mirrors will cause some view obstruction, but I think that you will find the Junior West Coast mirrors satisfactory.
Are those type of mirrors that mount on door pillars, which you only can adjust the mirror itself by moving up and down? I think I've seen those, in stainless or white. White is harder to find, though.
I need mirrors, but the swing-away type where you can adjust mirrors closer or further away from the doors.
You guys all seem to want the bigger, more practical mirrors, but I'll ask anyway. Has anyone ever mounted a set of the little round mirrors that you see on all the hot rods on their pickup? A good example would be the SoCal swan neck mirror. There about 4 inches in diameter, with a single arm that bolts to a blind nut you install in the door. I'd like to try a set similar to this. If you have a set like this, let me know where you got them and how much they were and how they work, if you don't mind.
One things for sure, they've got to be better then runnning without mirrors like I have been for the last 4 years. I'd still be doing it if it wasn't for that burnt taillight that got me pulled over!
Neal, I have them on my truck. They are just plain hard to see out of. Bigger is better in this case.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Neal, I used some suzuki motorcycle mirrors on a hot rod I had. They were chrome and looked really sweet. They had a different, flat plane because they were motorcycle mirrors that made them able to see a very wide view even though they were 4" around. And got 'em for nothing too.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Feb-02 AT 00:11 AM (EST)]if you have a plain non-trimmed truck, you need the painted frames/brackets to be accurate, if you have two-toned or chrome trim you need the stainless mirriors. the Jr. west coast mirrors seem to be predominant on camper specials around here, but I prefer the full west coast mirrors from the F-600/F-8000 (and the push-button door handles also)
I have the 1980-1997 F-600 mirrors on my 1997 F-350 PSD cc dually and I wouldnt be without them. you get used to the blind spot and adapt to it.
I have the Jr west coast mirrors on my 1973 F-250 CS and would prefer the Full version. (stainless)
small mirrors, my 1976 had the "postage stamp mirrors" and I dont like them, but if you want the little clamp-on mirrors LMC Truck has them in their catalog.
